They had stepped in a while ago with Kabaneri and other Noitamina anime, but I was under the impression it wasn’t doing super hot since no Noitamina anime since Kabaneri ever took off (and it’s not like Kabaneri got great word of mouth either). Amazon has decided to step into the world of anime streaming. The only problem is it’s been picked up by Amazon so…Īctually let’s talk about this straight away. It’s being adapted by Production IG who did an absolutely stellar job with Haikyuu. It’s been getting rave reviews for years and years, and not just from the usual crowd who praise every single shounen manga. It’s a goddamn shounen ballroom dancing anime. With Welcome to the Ballroom, I didn’t even bother for the same reason I never read the manga for Attack on Titan before it came out: I knew I was going to watch this and probably enjoy it. But mostly it’s focusing on all these new anime and all the new streaming platforms they will be on…yeah, more on that later.įor most manga being turned into anime, I like to read the first chapter of the manga so I get a good idea of what it’s like and whether I would be interested in checking out the adaptation.

Monogatari turns up for its usual yearly series and for those strange people who are into Symphogear, that returns too. Unlike last season where most everything worth watching were sequels so we kind of knew what it would be like going in, these season has way less big hitters in the sequel area. Just when you thought that Chihaya and Arata are official, how Taichi was being positioned halfway through the story would make you question what you thought was canon and then Chihaya would crush every theory you ever had all over again.I might not get Tanya faces anymore but if Compulsive Gambler can bring me these sorts of delights, I might be all right.\ I personally think Chihayafuru's selling point would be its characters (the character development of each person was commendable), the friendship, the sport itself and god, the love triangle. It introduced me to a fascinating sport called Competitive Karuta which was so damn good I would play it if I can read Japanese. I didn't expect Chihayafuru to be equally interesting at first but it was really beautiful. Nodame Cantabile revolves around the lives of very adorable, musically inclined characters, Nodame and Chiaki, while Kuragehime, about the jellyfish-loving Tsukimi and the fashion-loving Kuranosuke. The limited number of episodes means that there are rarely dull episodes and for some titles, every single episode is heart-stopping. These series are usually canon works that strictly followed the original storyline and have fast-paced but concise plots and breathtaking twists. Unlike long-running anime series, there are rarely filler episodes. The above-mentioned anime span 50 episodes or more, except for Nurarihyon no Mago with only 26 episodes (52 episodes if season 1 is to be included), Shingeki no Kyojin which only 25 aired episodes during its first season (second season is currently airing) and Tokyo Ghoul with only 13 episodes in its first season (I'm still debating with myself internally if I would like to recommend the second season, Tokyo Ghoul: Root A). Tokyo Ghoul is also categorized under seinen.
